Mourning for Johannes Blanka, former managing director of Roland Spedition

Karina BranayaiOperational

The entire workforce of Roland Spedition mourns the loss of our long-time managing director Johannes Blanka, who died on November 12, 2020 as a result of a corona infection.

Johannes Blanka has shaped our company since it was founded in 1982. Initially as an authorized signatory at the side of the founder Heinz Gutjahr and, after his early death, together with Renate Gutjahr as managing director of Roland Spedition. With his calm, level-headed manner and many years of experience in the forwarding industry, he was an important support for Renate Gutjahr and made a significant contribution to the company’s getting through these difficult times. Johannes Blanka played a decisive role in shaping the company’s strategic changes – from rail freight forwarder to container operator – and pushed partnerships.

After the generation change and his retirement in 2002, Johannes Blanka was a fatherly advisor to the two managing directors Christian Gutjahr and Nikolaus Hirnschall in their early years. Johannes Blanka was very much valued for his humor, humanity and humility. He was a good listener who always met everyone with a lot of understanding.

Despite his many interests and hobbies such as hiking, the theater, but also visits to coffee houses and wine taverns and of course his family, Johannes Blanka has remained very attached to Roland Spedition. We were in contact until the very end, and he was also happy to be at our Christmas parties. Johannes Blanka will be missed.

Our deepest condolences go to his family and all relatives and friends.
